Solar Energy

The town's zoning code exempts solar energy systems from height regulations permits solar and wind powered devices for commercial use as special exceptions on lots of 3 acres or more. It exempts solar energy systems from height regulations (§3.6) and outlines standards, including set backs of 100' from road centerlines (§3.10.a) and 50' from any internal property lines (§3.10.b).

The zoning code permits solar and wind powered devices for commercial use as special exceptions on lots of 3 acres or more at elevations of less than 1,000' (§7.18), but not in steep slope, wetland, or shoreland areas in the conservation overlay district (Table 2).
