The city's zoning code includes an article addressing solar access regulations (Appendix B Art. XV). It includes a purpose statement (§1501) and provides for establishment of solar access easements by agreements between property owners (§1502).

The easement establishes a defined "solar skyspace" for which property owners may not erect buildings or allow vegetation to grow to shade solar collectors. The code describes the application process for a solar access easement (§1503) and recordation (§1504). It then more clearly defines easement effect and enforcement regarding shading from structures and shading from vegetation (§1505).
