Solar Energy

The Land Use Element of the city's General Plan includes a policy to support design strategies and construction standards that maximize the use of alternative energy sources and passive solar architecture (Policy 1.2).

This policy is followed by action statements recommending updates to building codes and design guidelines to encourage or require solar design and renewable energy systems (Action 1.2.1), updates to zoning standards to remove barriers to renewable energy systems (Action 1.2.2), renewable energy systems for new and renovated municipal buildings (Action 1.2.3), and incentives for homeowners and businesses that install solar energy systems (Action 1.2.4).
