According to the city's planning and zoning code, solar energy systems may exceed the maximum permitted height by no more than 12" as needed to meet Solar Rights Act efficiency standards (Sec. 10.60.060).

The code defines a solar energy system (Sec. 10.04.3030).

The code requires the removal of trees that are obstructing protected solar access as regulated by state law (Sec. 10.52.120)
