The land use chapter in the township's revised general ordinances includes a section on small wind and solar energy systems (Sec. 35-120). These systems are intended to generate power for on-site use, not commercial purposes, and are only permitted as accessory uses to existing principal uses (Sec. 35-120.1). The code provides some solar-related definitions (Sec. 35-120.2) as well as standards for solar energy systems addressing rooftop as well as ground-mounted arrays (Sec. 35-120.3.b), and covers removal after abandonment (Sec. 35-120.3.m). Zoning permits are required for installation, and systems on nonresidential properties require site plan approval, though they may be eligible for waivers (Sec. 35-120.3.n).
