Solar Energy

The township's municipal code includes a chapter on energy systems containing a section on photovoltaic energy systems (Sec. 178-2). PV systems require building permits and zoning officer review and approval. Systems are limited in power production to twice the average annual energy consumption of the property. Rooftop arrays may not be taller than the roof peak or more than 15 inches above the roof surface; ground-mounted systems are limited in height to 15 feet and in location to side and rear yards, and must be landscaped. Abandoned systems must be removed after 3 months.
