Solar Energy

The city's sustainability plan includes Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy as a focus area and describes some of the state's solar incentive programs (pp. 61-62). The plan's narrative notes that with regard to implementation, the city can lead by using renewable energy sources within its own facilities, removing code barriers to increasing renewable energy supply, partnering with Florida Power and Light, establishing renewable energy use goals, educating the public, and creating financial incentive programs (pp. 63-64). The goals set by the plan are fairly general, however: diversifying energy sources (ER 1.0); promoting a "cultural shift" in behavior (ER 2.0); developing a "best practices" toolkit (ER 3.0); and highlighting incentives for renewable energy deployment (ER 4.0).
