Solar Energy

The city's Master Plan addresses solar in its visioning chapter, noting that wind, solar, or other renewable energy production is an opportunity in the area of Natural Resources and the Environment (p. 1-16). It later addresses solar in its Policy Framework section on Economic Development; energy development goals and policies call for exploring opportunities for increased development of wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources (Policy A1-1, p. 3-26). The Parks and Recreation section also mentions solar, with a natural resource conservation goal calling for increasing the local generation and use of solar and other renewable energy sources in a way that supports local character and quality of life (Policy B2-7, p. 3-34) and allowing on-site renewable energy generation where it does not adversely affect surrounding properties (Policy B2-8, p. 3-34).
