Solar Energy

The Conservation Element in the county's Comprehensive Plan notes that opportunities for energy conservation in the county, including use of solar and renewable energy rather than fossil fuel sources, are significant, and that local solar resources have yet to be developed on a significant scale, and that the county badly needs a program to address energy conservation (p. 243). Recommendations include expanding the understanding of energy end-use patterns in the county, to better determine opportunities for alternative energy substitution (Recommendation 1, p. 243); identifying the potential to conserve energy and convert to non-fossil fuel sources (Recommendation 2, p. 244); implementing energy conservation-related policies and ordinances (Recommendation 3, p. 244).
