Solar Energy

The Energy Resources section of the general plan's Conservation element includes a goal of increasing energy efficiency and renewable energy (Goal 1), with objectives of seeking clean alternative energy (ER1, ER2) and a strategy of installing solar generating facilities on City buildings and water treatment plants to reduce energy costs and use renewable energy (ER5.2).

Urban Heat Resilience

The city’s comprehensive plan addresses the need to reduce the effects of urban heat. It contains an ambient temperature reduction goal to help the jurisdiction minimize the impacts of heat islands and maintain comfortable temperatures. It outlines three objectives:

  1. Integrate temperature reduction into development, energy, and water resources policies and programs;
  2. Evaluate local and regional opportunities to address heat island effects; and
  3. Support local and regional temperature monitoring and mitigation efforts.
