The city's section of the county's comprehensive plan addresses solar energy in its Public Infrastructure and Utilities Element. Strategy 5.4 calls for exploring opportunities for alternative energy use and development, with related actions of encouraging renewable energy, conducting a feasibility study for solar energy generation, and collaborating with schools and university to support alternative energy projects (pp. 63 & 100).
