solar energy

The city's Climate Action Plan lists renewable energy as a method to reduce emissions (p. ES-7). It lists three types of renewable energy-related actions: developing renewable energy projects, including solar projects; conducting pilot projects; and supporting green power purchasing (p. 3-28). The plan describes current efforts of the city in developing solar projects and proposes actions of implementing the Generation Solar Program to install at least 100 PV systems on private property, and expanding PV installations on municipal buildings (p. 3-30). It estimates CO2 reductions of 35,000 tons from these actions (p. 3-29). A section on next steps for implementation lists a number of solar renewable energy project steps, including identifying high value sites for solar projects and reducing city permit fees and streamlining permit processes (p. 4-12), as well as actions that would support green power purchasing (p. 4-15).
