Solar Energy

Defines "solar collector," "detached solar collector," "solar energy system," and "solar reflector" (Section 525-5).

Requires new residential developments of 100 or more acres of site area or more than 200 dwelling units to submit a solar access plan that considers the following (Section 525-86):

• protecting solar access between solar azimuths of -45 degrees east and +45 degrees west of due south.
• modifications to dimensional standards
• road, lot, and building siting and orientation
• using topography and building heights to maximize access
• recordation of solar access protections
