The city code's animal chapter allows the keeping of large and small animals other than cats and dogs with an annual large or small animal permit (Article 5-4).  A maximum of 2 large or 12 small animals may be kept, though only 2 miniature pigs are allowed per household (§5-4-408). Standards address facilities for keeping animals (setbacks, enclosure design and size) and sanitation/maintenance (§5-4-409–410).

Beekeeping is allowed in all zoning districts, but standards apply in urban zoning districts, including required city and state registration, colony density limitations, location requirements, and water supply provision (§5-4-415).
