This report looks at the transformation retail is currently going through and the shift from brick-and-mortar, to e-commerce, to omnichannel approaches. It describes trends and includes data and resources to explain current conditions, future projections, and sources of additional information. It finds that the increased efficiency of autonomous trucks will expand the service areas of mega-distribution areas, while autonomous vehicles will likely deliver goods to the end user. It also notes how autonomous vehicles will potentially increase the amount of time people spend on mobile devices, increasing money spent on shopping while in transit while also delivering providing retailers with valuable data on consumer behavior.
