Larimer County, CO, A Right to Farm and Ranch Policy

BCC Policy #18A, 1998

Farmland Protection

The county’s right-to-farm resolution protects farms and ranches from nuisance complaints as long as they are compliant with county regulations. It sets obligations for maintenance of fences, prohibits refuse dumping in irrigation ditches, and requires wise maintenance of property resources.

An accompanying Executive Summary from the county’s Agricultural Advisory Board summarizes the reasoning behind the resolution and describes implementation outcomes of the policy.
