Farmland Protection | Food Systems

The city’s general plan addresses farmland protection in its Agriculture, Soils, and Minerals chapter. Under the goals of maintaining agriculture as an important industry around the city, policies address protecting agricultural land from urban development (AG 1.1) and promoting and enhancing local agriculture (AG 1.2). The actions within these policies include encouraging participation in farmland preservation programs, establishing 150-foot minimum agricultural buffers, and implementing the farmland preservation ordinance to mitigate farmland loss.
