Farmland Protection

The county’s farmland preservation plan updates the original 1981 farmland preservation plan in accordance with the state’s Working Lands Initiative requiring updates to existing farmland preservation plans. The plan designates certified agricultural preservation areas and encourages the implementation of PACE programs. It relates farmland preservation efforts to the larger comprehensive planning process, describes county programs and funding sources for farmland protection, and examines agricultural land use and policies in constituent municipalities.
