The plan explores the relationship between comprehensive planning and farmland preservation planning, and examines farmland preservation recommendations in local comprehensive plans for all of the county’s constituent jurisdictions. It inventories existing agricultural resources and highlights new enterprises for agriculture. It offers an exhaustive analysis of trends, needs, or plans that may affect farmland preservation in the county, and lists tools for preserving and supporting farmland preservation. It also identifies issues around farmland preservation and offers goals and recommendations, as well as implementation strategies that discuss consistency among the comprehensive plan, farmland preservation plan, and local zoning ordinances.
