The county’s land use ordinance addresses farmland protection through agricultural easements (§1102.1). As part of any permit for residential development adjacent to land being used for an agricultural use, an perpetual nonexclusive easement is required waiving the residential users’ common law rights to object to normal and necessary agricultural management activities that may produce noise, dust, smoke, odors, and other conditions. Appendix B-1 provides the agricultural management easement form.
