This report, prepared by the Food Policy Institute at Rutgers for the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, conveys the findings of a one-year study of the potential for agritourism development in New Jersey. The study was triggered by the realization that to realize goals of and protect investments in farmland preservation in New Jersey, the business of farming must remain profitable. The report provides information about the current nature of agritourism activities in New Jersey, the extent to which these activities improve farm viability, and the needs of agritourism operators. The report also advances specific recommendations that will support agritourism development in New Jersey.
