Agritourism | Food Systems

The county’s zoning ordinance addresses agritourism within an article on agricultural operations (§22-262.1 et seq.). It defines a number of agritourism-related terms and uses and allows a number of agritourism activities, including aquaculture, cider mills, farm produce sales and seasonal outdoor mazes, farm stays, farm wineries, and greenhouses. The code also allows for a range of ancillary agritourism uses, including value-added products or activities, bakeries, playgrounds, petting farms, hayrides, nature trails, picnic areas, classes, kitchen facilities, and gift shops.

Agritourism activities are permitted in the county’s two agricultural districts (§22-59, §22-71) and two limited residential districts (§22-84, §22-114).

A webpage on the county’s website summarizes the agritourism ordinance.
