Creative Placemaking

This article discusses how creative placemaking initiatives in Baltimore reactivated a neighborhood and supported the growth of an Arts and Entertainment District. The Station North Arts and Entertainment District used tax incentives to attract artists and investors to the community. It discusses the role of different actors, including a local college, a not-for-profit, and residents, in engaging in creative placemaking without displacement of existing residents. Additionally, it describes how public arts activities have encouraged community participation in cultural events.
