Accessory Dwelling Units

This guide is designed to help cities and counties in California update local zoning regulations for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to comply with state statutes. Individual sections address the importance of ADUs and frequently asked questions about state statutes. 

The appendices include sample (model) local ordinances for ADUs and "junior" ADUs (i.e., small internal ADUs with or without full independent kitchen facilities).
