Complete Streets

The city’s comprehensive plan includes multiple complete streets policy recommendations. The plan’s transportation chapter includes a complete streets goal (4.2) and multiple policies that address street design standards, street connectivity, non-motorized connections, walkability, on-street parking, two-way streets, landscaping, sidewalks, and safety.

Form-Based ZOning

The city’s comprehensive plan includes policy recommendations that support a form-based code approach. It identifies the need to support walkability, neighborhood character preservation, and creating more complete neighborhoods that are better connected and diverse. 

Solar Energy

The Public Facilities Element includes an energy-related policy of supporting the development of renewable energy sources, including solar (Policy 5.6.2). Policies in the Sustainability Element include facilitating the adoption of onsite renewable energy sources and promoting renewable energy source use, including solar (policies 10.7.3, 10.7.4); developing standards to promote buildings with solar energy systems and protect residential solar access (Policy 10.7.7); and developing green building standards that include passive solar design (Policy 10.15.2).
