This article describes how a community in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles is resisting a form of gentrification called “artwashing”. Artwashing is a process of neighborhood change that uses art and the labor of artists to enable gentrification. It discusses the more militant and more compromise-based approaches that different organizations use to respond to the threat of displacement.
