The city’s comprehensive plan contains a Conservation and Climate Action Element that addresses global and local climate change impacts. The goals of this element are:

  1. Empower the community, leaders, and partners to address climate change;
  2. Reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emission;
  3. Prepare the city to adapt to the impacts; and
  4. Protect and conserve the natural resources that play a critical role in helping the city respond to climate change.

The plan presents several policies and actions to help achieve each of the goals established.
