Urban Heat Resilience

The city’s comprehensive plan addresses the effects of urban heat in its Environmental Stewardship & Community Resiliency element. Some of the policies to address urban heat include prioritizing tree canopy in areas vulnerable to the heat island effect (Policy 3.4.4), investing in the development of heat shelters and shading sites (Policy 6.3.6), and encouraging the use of materials and techniques that help mitigate the impacts of climate change (Policy 6.3.11).
