Urban Heat Resilience

This function plan contains strategies to help the jurisdiction address the effects of urban heat islands. It recommends the installation of cool roofs and other roofing technologies to help reduce energy consumption and reduce the urban heat island effect (ESS 1. I) and the expansion and preservation of the urban forest (GGC 3). The climate adaptation section also discusses the impact of higher temperatures on public health, infrastructure, and the urban systems and displays the areas where the population is more vulnerable to the effects of urban heat islands.
