This article examines how municipalities are preparing for the deployment of autonomous vehicles within their jurisdictions by reviewing existing plans and surveying transportation and planning officials. Some of the findings suggest that jurisdictions with larger populations are more likely to be prepared for this technology. Also, local officials have concerns about autonomous vehicles' potential to reduce transit ridership and local revenues.
