Comprehensive Planning

The city’s comprehensive plan initially adopted on June 2020, organizes its policy recommendations under 6 Big Ideas:
-Filling in Our Framework
-Creating Great Places
-Becoming Car Optional
-Prioritizing Sustainability
-Building Community Connections
-Growing Economic Competitiveness
Each of these big ideas present nested goals, objectives, policies, and actions. One feature that stands out is that of the incorporation of social equity, diversity, and inclusion in all six big ideas which becomes a key anchor of the plan. The City of Greensboro was recognized with the 2022 Daniel Burnham Award for a Comprehensive Plan.
