Scenario Planning

This article outlines population and demographic forecasting to better inform planning decisions and ensure capital planning investments are equitable and sustainable. Scenario forecasting is used to test several scenarios based on different assumptions about the future distribution of racial and ethnic populations. The article provides an example in the Metro Boston Region that used UrbanSim, a land use allocation model, to explore three scenarios and designate environmental justice areas.
