Urbana Planner Elected to National Planning Institute Commission
CHICAGO — Cynthia L. Hoyle, FAICP, an Urbana, Illinois, resident and partner of the Orion Planning Group, has been elected to serve on the commission of the American Planning Association's (APA) professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
Hoyle will represent the interests of AICP members. As one of eight commissioners, Hoyle will be responsible for governance of the Commission and setting strategic goals. She began her term May 30. This is a volunteer position.
Hoyle has more than 30 years of planning experience working in both the private and public sectors, with an emphasis on transportation. Prior to joining the Orion Planning Group, Hoyle was principal and owner of Hoyle Consulting. She also previously worked as a planner in Oklahoma. She is certified planner and a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an American planner.
An active APA member, Hoyle has held a number of positions at the national level and within the state chapter, including chair of APA's Private Practice Division and as a Planning Assistance Team Taskforce member.
Within her community, Hoyle is a steering committee member on the Illinois Safe Routes to School State Network, and previously served as chair of the Champaign County Blue Ribbon Environmental Panel, and as a member of the University of Illinois Sustainability Operations Task Force.
Hoyle has a master's degree in Regional and City Planning from the University of Oklahoma.
