About Me
I am passionate about using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a tool to find planning solutions in a variety of contexts, including community development, environmental management, networking, and data access.
Professional Biography
Alexandria Shreffler is the Geospatial Analyst for the Venango County Regional Planning Commission. She recently obtained her Master's degree in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State University (2021), following her dual Psychology and Environmental Studies degree from Allegheny College (2018) where she developed her interests in community wellbeing, green space, and walkability. Her current work for the Planning Commission involves floodplain management, environmental review, and general mapping assistance to all municipalities and members of the community. Her experience with GIS includes project management, database construction, suitability analysis, cloud & server development, and application programming. She is passionate about the role of GIS in community engagement and participatory involvement. In her spare time, she enjoys mapping local community resources for the OpenStreetMap Project (openstreetmap.org). One day, she hopes to develop an online GIS information portal to bring knowledge accessibility and the power of data analysis to the people invested in Venango County. Her work-life balance routine includes knitting, playing guitar, reading, and playing board games with her family.
