Wildfire is significant risk for communities throughout California. As the Wildland-Urban Interface continues to grow, and conditions conducive to wildfire persist (and even worsen), planning and regulatory steps are necessary to reduce wildfire risk to communities and the environment. This case study of LA County, CA applies APA's Multihazard Planning Framework for Communities in the Wildland-Urban Interface to evaluate existing planning interventions, regulatory tools, and local standards intended to reduce wildfire risks in the county.
