Planning and Community Health Center
Tools for Health
In collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Planning and Community Health Center created a set of applied tools and factsheets to incorporate health into development review, comprehensive planning, green infrastructure and safe routes to parks.
Guidance for Health in the Development Review Process
The center examined best practices that directly or indirectly address community health improvement for new development and redevelopment. These guidelines will be useful for all players involved in the planning and development process as communities pursue their vision of becoming healthier, livable, and economically viable.
In addition to the guidelines, APA developed a set of fact sheets focused on:
- Health into the Comprehensive Planning Process
- Safe Routes to Parks
- Green Infrastructure for Community Health
These two-page handouts are designed for a broad audience that includes planners, public health professionals, public works departments, community leaders, public officials, and more.
Along with these materials, the center will hold a webinar series illustrating how to integrate health into each of these topics.
