Policy principles represent the association's position on major legislative issues under consideration by federal and state policy makers now, and provide the foundation for future policy guides.

Member-Driven Process

Principles are developed by APA's Legislative and Policy Committee with input from APA's Board of Directors.

Adopted Principles

Autonomous Vehicles

Autonomous vehicles will change how communities plan, design, and invest. APA believes AV technology has the potential to improve mobility and access, reduce traffic fatalities, and advance alternative energy use, but recognize the need for regulations and policies that will advance shared-mobility options.

We urge Congress to consider our policy recommendations.

Well-planned infrastructure is the backbone of our communities and economy. APA believes that the time for federal investment in infrastructure is now, but it must not come at the expense of existing infrastructure programs.

We urge Congress to consider our policy recommendations.
